Filipinoes Native Desserts

Who would say no with dessert? Dessert is usually serve after every meal, its something that you waited for after the end of the snacks. Filipinos have their own native dessert that you'll surely enjoy, let me introduce to you some of their native delicacies:

Palitaw
This is one of the Filipino common dessert, a small, flat sweet rice cake that is made from malagkit(a sticky rice), grated coconut, sugar and sesame seeds. This is so easy to make. First, you need to create a little balls from the malagkit then flatten it. Drop it in a boiling water, when it floats its already cook. Remove from water and roll it with sugar, serve with grated coconut and sesame seeds on top.

Ginataan/Bilo Bilo
Ginataan or Bilo Bilo is a popular dessert for Filipinos, it has a sweet taste of coconut milk. Its perfect during cold rainy days and also as a merienda. It is so easy to make, let the coconut milk and water to boil, then add other ingredients such as chopped sweet potato, sweet banana, taro, tapioca pearls and sugar. Mix well and served hot.

Polvoron
Polvoron, this is definitely a kid's favorites. This is the easiest to make in all desserts coz it doesn't involve cooking, just a little bit toasting of the flour prior to mixing it with the powdered milk, melted butter and sugar - and you now have a delicious polvoron.


Turon

Turon, another native desserts of the Filipinos. Turon is primarily made of banana that is wrap with a lumpia wrapper and dipped with brown sugar. You can also add a langka together with the banana to make it more sweet.

Halo Halo
A very popular dessert in which means to mix different kinds of ingredients. Its mainly mixture are ice and milk, and added with various boiled sweet beans and fruits (sweet red beans,sliced banana, coconut jelly),or any other fillings of your choice such as (sago, nata de coco, etc) and served cold in a tall glass or bowl.
