Save Your Leftover!

After a long vacation and celebrations, there will be lots of food leftover... There will be instances that you don't have enough space where to put it, and due to this some might get spoiled.

I'll just share to you some little tips in which you can prevent spoilage of foods and right ways to store it:

* Hot foods can only be left within 2 hours outside the refrigerator, if its been out for more than 2 hours better not to keep it. Don't taste it, either, just to know if its already spoiled. Even a small amount of contaminated food can cause illness.

* If your going to cool a hot perishable food it should be done quickly. Don't cool leftovers on the kitchen counter, better to put them straight into the refrigerator or cool them in a bowl surrounded by ice water, then refrigerate.

* Date leftovers will only remain safe when refrigerated for three to five days, but leftovers containing meat will only last within 3 days.

* About foods with mayonnaise or other egg-based products may not be safe to eat for the next day, you should consume it within the day.

* It will be good also if you will plan of using the leftovers. They can be used as an additives or alternatives in other dishes. You can even create a different recipes out of leftovers.

* Lastly, do not rely on reheating leftover food to make mishandled food safe.

Just hope that this will help a bit for all and lets keep ourselves healthy by eating the right and safe foods! ^^
